No malaria case detected in last 3 years | DMO: East Siang eligible for ‘malaria free district’ status

PASIGHAT, Apr 25: The East Siang District Health Society (DHS) observed World Malaria Day(WMD), themed ‘Accelerate the fight against malaria for a more equitable world’, at Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH) here on Thursday.

As not a single malaria case has been detected in East Siang district for last three years, it is technically eligible to be declared as malaria free district, said  DMO Dr. Komling Perme.

DVBDCPO Dr. Keni Lego, in his address earlier, briefed about epidemiology of malaria followed by an oath – Machhar-dani lagao malaria se bacho, Pani jama hone mat do, Malaria se bacho – by all to keep the surrounding clean, to prevent malaria.

The annual event aims to raise awareness about preventive measures against malaria for the people not to fall victim of the disease. Thus, BSC nursing students of local Govt Nursing College and ANM students of HTRC took out a rally to spread awareness about the disease and its preventive steps. The rally was flagged off by BPGH medical superintendent Dr. YR Darang. (DIPRO)
